It’s that time of year again – registration for NTI! Many training opportunities are still available for I-Group, T-Group, C/SC-Group, OM-Group, O-Group, OA-Group and more.  Don’t delay and miss out on great opportunities like:

New Instrumentation Training at NTI 2018!

At NTI 2017, Course T-171  Advanced Instrumentation, Hands-On was introduced and filled up quickly!  There is still room in the course for 2018.  This course, builds on the topics in the ever-popular T-115 course presented by  .  Course T-171 is designed to provide more exposure and hands-on time to the additional tools and devices used in electrical training ALLIANCE instrumentation courses.   The course offers something for everyone whether you are an experienced tech, new instructor, tenured instructor, or just looking for practice in lab environment classrooms.  All of this is accomplished in a totally hands-on training environment.  In addition there will be discussion on procuring tools, devices, and building demonstration processes.

Course T-211, Fundamentals of Instrumentation Course, How to Teach  is also back!  With it comes all of the bells and whistles of a formal instrumentation class, condensed into a 36-hour format.  This course is a great way for a new instructor to experience the entire curriculum and format for instrumentation training.  Completion of this course will also provide the instructor the appropriate certificate to sit for a Part A exam, and become Part A qualified.

Instrumentation Part A Exam at NTI

There have been some requests made to offer an Instrumentation Part A exam (aka STE IC04.01A) at NTI in order to assist those training centers that are not currently hosting an exam.   If someone in your training center is interested in taking the exam while at NTI, please contact Jason Lunardini at jlunardini@electricaltrainingalliance.org

PLR Training

The electrical training ALLIANCE has created a 4-hour evening presentation at NTI for this year to discuss programmable logic relays, aka PLR’s.   These low-cost controllers offer quite a few features that we feel could find their place in hands-on demonstrations and practice within the curriculum.   In addition, PLR’s offer an excellent introduction into PLC training.   Please join us Tuesday evening at NTI for some hands-on practice and discussion about these devices!

Instrumentation Topic Updates

Instrumentation Test Questions

Recently, there has been an update to the available test questions in the test generator for all lessons in both Module 2 and Module 3.  As a reminder, by Module 1’s design, all testing is performed inside the module therefore, there are no available test generator questions.

In addition to the test questions, we are continuing to develop a practice test module which will enroll with Module 3.   This practice module is to be used by those who have completed all relevant training and all modules, and are studying to take the Instrumentation Part A exam.  These exams will be structured differently.  Look for more information on this special module in the coming months!

Instrumentation Certification Program

Did you know the Instrumentation test has an official name?   If you didn’t, no worries, we are here to introduce you to STE IC04.01 Part A and STE IC04.01 Part B.   In the future, you will begin to see more information regarding the STE program and the two tests that we offer for instrumentation certification.  We are currently updating some documents with which, you may interface with, and want everyone to know we aren’t trying to pull a fast one!!   You will begin to see this used more to identify these exams and want everyone to be familiar with them, as someday they may have siblings… but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves for now.  Should you have any questions, please contact Jason Lunardini via email at jlunardini@electricaltrainingalliance.org

Tool Upgrade Opportunities!

Instrumentation Hands On training

The electrical training ALLIANCE continues to look for ways to assist training centers in procuring equipment and devices for instrumentation training.   Recently, we have been in contact with the Rosemount unit of Emerson and are pleased to announce the opportunity for a group purchase of the new Trex communicator at a reduced price.  This device will become their standard communicator as support for their current 475 device is phased out.  We know that many of our training centers are still operating legacy (275 & 375) communicator devices, however, with support for these devices long expired, they have begun to see some issues, so this could be an opportunity to upgrade.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, or have other questions regarding building or restarting a lab, please contact Jason Lunardini via email jlunardini@electricaltrainingalliance.org

If your center owns one or more of these……
