The electrical training ALLIANCE has been diligently working on updating the available training resources for the LMS Instructor. In recent years, the training materials were updated from the original LMS Instructor course to a Managing Electrical Training resource area. Today, the course has been improved upon and updated to be the Instructors main stop for learning about the Learning Management System (LMS), accessing continuously updated documentation about the important features of it, and a place for collaboration with your fellow instructors across North America.

Look for these specific areas below:

  • LATEST NEWS
  • FORUMS
  • RESOURCES

The LATEST NEWS area makes available video vignettes and discussions that at any point in time may be from Training Partners, our parent organizations, NECA and IBEW, the electrical training ALLIANCE staff, and others. Every so often, a new vignette will be posted largely in response to questions or comments posed by you or your fellow instructors.

The FORUMS area is all-in about collaboration. This space includes the forum Code of Conduct and General Discussion boards. You may use this space to reply to a colleague or begin a new topic.  When interested in a specific post topic, simply subscribe to it to receive an email when another colleague responds.

The RESOURCES area points to multiple tools designed specifically to offer training on the LMS itself.  Questions about what to expect when using the LMS, what is needed to access items on the LMS, and how to get around the system are included. An ADDITIONAL TRAINING VIDEOS page is also linked to this area where recent presentations regarding things about the LMS, TMS, CLCS, and overall curriculum are to be found.

In conjunction with the PTSI Online Learning Systems Review** course, the Resources area is where you can learn all there is to know about the LMS from both the developers behind the system and those who use the system, delivering training. Video presentations will also be made available here in the resources area from recent events where the LMS, TMS, CLCS, Curriculum, or other tools were outlined.

**Access to this course is dependent on being on the PTSI Online Learning System. In time all programs will transition to this system; currently, there are just under 60 programs on it, and the remaining programs are on the Blended Learning LMS.

Some final notes:

  • The previous title of this course was Managing Electrical Training…and, before that, we had the LMS Instructor course.
  • All instructors are auto-enrolled into this course by being rostered into their Program’s Training Management System (TMS). No local enrollment work is necessary; just by being rostered, your access is created by the system.
  • Access to this space is by having an instructor, Training Director, or Training Director Assistant account rostered on the TMS with access to the LMS.
  • To access the Forums within the Instructors’ Lounge there is an Instructor Forum Code of Conduct and Agreement that is required to be marked complete. Access to this agreement is from within the course and found directly under the Forums banner.

Please spend some time and get to know all of the available resources available in the new Instructors Lounge.  We look forward to collaborating with you.
